Understanding Mac memory

If you are planning a Mac memory upgrade and you are not sure what kind of memory you have that is required for your specific Mac model you can get this information from the System Profile menu. This is the step by step instructions. Open the Apple menu and click on About This Mac. Click on More Info button and once the System profiler opens it will show the Hardware, Network Overview and more. The Memory Section on the left side of the screen will show your current memory configuration and which slots are filled with which type of memory as well as how many slots are taken and are available for upgrades.
