Network Cables
The two most common types of network cables are straight-through cable and cross-over network cable. Straight-through cable connects a computer to a network device such as routers, hubs and switches to communicate with other device or devices in the network. The trasnmission of data is via the network adapters on both ends. If their is connectivity, the link lights blinks on the NIC interface on both ends. If there is no blinking, check if the ports are enabled/alive or disabled/dead. Straight-through network cables uses the same pin and colr coding standard on both ends.Straight-through network cables uses color-coding standards called T-568A or T-568B on an RJ-45 plug on both ends. |
